HOW LUSHCRAFT THREADS BEGAN

It was 2020. I, a 24 year old mother to a 4 year old daughter, was working as an insurance agent for the past 6 years. Just like anybody, once the pandemic hit, I was working from home. I considered myself blessed to still be able to keep working and provide for my daughter (since at the time I was not living with her father/my husband.) Once I started working from home, I quickly realized how much I missed out from my daughter's every day to day routine/life. Mind you, it may not seem like much, but as a parent, you know. All the milestones, all the funny random acts they do. I realized what I finally wanted to do is let grandma take a break and spend time and enjoy my daughter, because you never get that time back. Unfortunately, I was not in a place to quit just yet. I continued working for about 6 more months until I said ENOUGH. I don't want to work for anyone else anymore. I want to work for MYSELF. I want to spend time with my daughter. I took the leap of faith and quit my job. I didn't even know what to do LOL. I was jobless. Soley depending on my now husband and the little savings I had. My husband ended up buying me a Cricut machine. I had always liked to craft and create things, but I had no idea what I was doing. I started making simple t-shirts for family events, putting vinyl on random mugs and cups in the kitchen. That's when I realized I could sell my decals, I could sell some t-shirts. I started my Etsy shop, I named it Abbys Crafts (so basic huh lol). I made my first sale and got so excited that a random stranger from another stated wanted something I CREATED. Slowly I grew. Slowly I invested in more equipment. Slowly I learned more techniques and skills I didn't even know I could! I rebranded about 3 times LOL. Fast forward to 2023, I am still doing the darn thing and I am so proud of myself for taking that leap of faith. I get to enjoy my family. I get to enjoy making custom items and cute awesome designs/items for you guys. I get to finally enjoy what I do for a living. It wasn't easy and it still sometimes isn't easy, but I'm going to keep pushing through every barrier and obstacle. I wish I could tell my whole life story and everything in between since this is a condensed version, but I don't think I have enough space for that, my life is a whole book LOL! If you made it this far use code STORY for 20% off your order *wink wink* :) . But, I do want to make sure you guys know that I am very grateful for your support of me and my small business. You're supporting an awesome first gen mexican american momma of 2 follow her dreams.

God Bless everyone.

Xoxo,

Myrka
